From about 1987 thru 1996, the very first “plein air artist groups” Plein Air Painters of America, met each fall on Catalina Island, to paint for 7 to 10 days, and then have a GRAND Exhibition at the Casino Ballroom.
PAPA, which they became known as, was created by Denise Burns, and I set up PAPA’s 10 year ad campaign (charging NOTHING for my time< "pre-computers"!!)
And today, there is hardly an artist group that do NOT have a plein air group!
